A classic alpine ski traverse through the rugged Monolith Basin offers deep wilderness exploration for the skiing enthusiast. Combining hut stays with back country camping, this five day expedition traverses one of the hidden alpine gems of the spectacular Sawtooth Mountains. From the Bench Hut, we traverse a rugged alpine pass to set up a base camp in the Monolith Valley, amongst stunning alpine bowls and granite towers. From here, we climb and ski the many beautiful peaks and bowls that surround this alpine perch. After two days at the base camp, we ski down into the Fishhook Valley where a cozy Yurt and a hot tub await. On the final day we ascend Thompson Peak (the highest of the Sawtooth Mountains) and ski a glorious 4 thousand foot descent back to civilization.
